We are thrilled to announce that the Pickup Truck Racing Championship will be joining the MSVR’s ranks for the 2025 season and beyond.
The fast and furious racing provided by the Pickups first reached British shores in 1997, at the hands of Sonny Howard. For the past 27 years the championship has wowed fans across the nation, and we look forward to continuing this for years to come.
MSVR have enjoyed working with the championship in the past, at high-profile events like American SpeedFest at Brands Hatch, and now eagerly await welcoming the much-loved Pickups to more MSVR race weekends in 2025. A varied and impressive calendar has been curated for the Pickup Truck Racing Championship in 2025, including SpeedFest at Brands Hatch and two additional American festivals at Oulton Park and Snetterton with rounds at the UK’s other premier circuits due to be announced in due course, with a view of introducing new viewers (and fans!) to the action-packed category.
This exhilarating addition brings a new dimension to MSVR’s championships, whilst also expanding a diverse portfolio of American style categories.
Commercial & Competitions Manager Joe East said: “We are delighted to have the Pickup Truck Championship join MSVR from the 2025 season. We have had the pleasure of working with Sonny Howard for many years, as the Pickup Trucks have become a staple of the successful American themed event at Brands Hatch. Sonny’s knowledge and passion for motorsport is undeniable and we are really looking forward to having the fantastic racing that is associated with the Pickup Truck Racing as part of the MSVR family”
Championship Founder and Co-ordinator Sonny Howard added: “My wife Barbara, and I have been working hard to find a way to future proof the Pickup Truck Racing Championship. It is unique, whereby everyone involved understands that we are a MSUK championship, but are also aware that motorsport is designed to entertain. They are all show orientated and even after 28 years the ethos of its racing, to put on a spectacle for spectators, is still instilled in everyone associated with the championship.
MSVR and the team recognise this and have the infrastructure to not only continue with its concept, but to now take Pickup Truck Racing to a new level. The announcement to the drivers on Saturday evening saw twenty-two drivers commit to the 2025 season and we know that the championship has an exciting future with MSVR”
